Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Director to oversee all aspects of purchasing by partnering with internal business teams in sourcing equipment, goods and services, and to advantageously manage IHI vendors and vendor relationships. The Purchasing Director will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Putting strong analytical, decision-making and negotiation skills to work, the ideal candidate will be adept at managing strategic purchasing activities across multiple categories of spend, always searching for better deals and the most beneficial suppliers. S/he will be a proactive, goal-oriented self-starter with a high degree of drive and integrity, and will thrive in a fun, fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate all activities related to purchasing:

* Develop, manage and enhance the organization's purchasing policies and processes
* Establish standard operating procedures for purchasing; monitor their effectiveness and revise and improve as necessary
* Direct and manage the development of request for proposals based on IHI's purchasing policies
* Collaborate with and advise members of the finance, human resources, marketing, information technology, project teams, etc. on key purchasing activities
* Research, evaluate and negotiate with reliable vendors and suppliers to make advantageous decisions on behalf of IHI; maintain meticulous records
* Support IHI's partnerships and vendor relations activities on an ongoing, as-needed basis
* Drive the vendor contracting process including reviewing and editing contract terms and conditions with support from the CFO and or external legal counsel
* Assure commodities are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meet quality standards
* Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement focused on driving cost and service efficiencies
* Track and report key performance metrics to reduce overall expenses and improve effectiveness of purchasing
* Perform benchmarking and cost and scenario analysis
* Participate in software selection and improvements as needed

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience working with RFP/RFQ and vendor contracts
* Experience with sourcing and vendor management
* Effective negotiator and networker
* Ability to gather and analyze data with a keen business sense
* Expert ability to manage projects, partnerships and professional relationships a must
* Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
* Strong ability to plan, organize and think strategically
* Solid analytical, decision-making and troubleshooting skills
* Experience with federal funding/USAID procurement requirements a plus
